Account opening is designed as one sitting, four stages:
The four stages
- Identity — legal name, date of birth, address, and identification number, verified electronically (see verify your identity).
- Eligibility — private-market participation is generally limited to accredited investors; you’ll attest and, where required, verify.
- Agreements — the account agreement and disclosures, signed electronically, with a copy kept in your documents.
- Funding — link a bank account; see funding for rails and timing.
Have ready: government ID details, Social Security or tax ID number, and your bank account details. Entity accounts additionally need formation details and the people who own or control the entity.
