Private-market transactions settle in stages, and each stage is visible:
The stages
- Committed — your decision is recorded and documents are executed.
- In transfer review — the issuer’s transfer rules run their course; timing here belongs to the issuer, not the platform.
- Funding — cleared funds are confirmed against the settlement amount.
- Settled — the position lands in an account custodied at Investor Services, including self-directed retirement accounts, and appears in your statements from that date.
Private-market settlement is measured in days-to-weeks, not seconds — that is the asset class, not a delay.
